Here is a great verse to think about. Not only the verse but what it should cause us to do.
* * * * * * * * * * * * * * *
“To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation. Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ’s stead, be ye reconciled to God.” (2 Corinthians 5:19-20)
To wit … there is another one of those things that says we need to look back a little bit to understand Paul’s full thoughts in this verse. “To wit” means “that is to say” so I went all the way back to verse 5 to get the gist. In the full context Paul is speaking of the ministry of reconciliation, how that we can become “new” in Christ because God has reconciled us, or “reestablished our relationship” with Himself through Jesus Christ. Because of this we have a new relationship with God and Jesus.
What great news! We have a new relationship because of what Jesus did. He who knew no sin made himself to be sin for us (2 Cor 5:21). He gave His life so that we might be righteous; considered sinless in God’s eyes. So what are you doing with this great truth? Are you telling people about Jesus? Are you His ambassador? What greater love is there than a man lay down his life for his friends? (John 15:13) I am a friend of God. I love telling people about this good news. Who will you tell today?
