But God

By Pamela Rose Williams

“But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us, Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved).”
Ephesians 2:4-5

Even when all seems lost, we that are “in Christ” can recall that God is merciful beyond our understanding and expectations. After all, we were dead in our sins and on the road to Hell when we heard the truth of the gospel of our salvation, believed that truth and trusted in Christ as the ONE Who paid that wage of sin for us (Ephesians 1:12-14)!  The most miraculous and wonderful thing happened at the moment that we believed — we were “quickened” together with Christ. That Old English word “quickened” literally means that we “sprung to life”. Why did God show us such mercy and grace? Because of “his great love wherewith he loved us”.

So if you hear a Christian say “But God”, there is a good chance that he/she is remembering that if God can save us from certain death that we can trust Him to do so much more than we expect. And because of this we should always remember to give Him the glory. For without Him and His great sacrifice for us, we would still be on the wrong path. Praise His holy name!

“Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us, Unto him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world without end. Amen.”
Ephesians 3:20-21
