Wherefore thus saith the LORD God of hosts, Because ye speak this word, behold, I will make my words in thy mouth fire, and this people wood, and it shall devour them. Jeremiah 5:14
There are some people who make the claim that there are two things that they will not talk about, religion and politics. They say this because often these topics discussions can get a little heated and it causes division. There are many topics that can cause heated discussions and division. Unfortunately, the world’s solution to these discussion is also not to talk about it. However, those wanting nothing to do with applying Biblical principles to any topic have taken it upon themselves to decide that Biblical principles are not an acceptable when it comes to opinions on topics. Likewise, anyone who does not agree with their opinion, is labeled as bigoted, racist, sexist, or whatever the latest fad label is for wrong. Sadly, this leaves many Christians afraid to openly share anything with others about their faith. I once attended a sportsman’s banquet at a large church and everyone had a great time. I thought the banquet was amazing, however, what bothered me is that with hundreds of men in attendance, many of which were not saved, no where in the program did anyone present the gospel. A few days later, when asked by those who organized the event what I thought about it, I responded that I was disappointed that nobody shared the gospel. Their reply was that they did not want to offend anyone by sharing the gospel. I politely responded by asking them to imagine how offended the men who were unsaved will be when they go to hell. Needless to say, they were not comfortable with my comment, but it does illustrate a point. In Matthew 10:34-39, Jesus made the statement that we should not think that He came to bring peace on earth, but a sword. And this sword would cause division, so much that it would even make enemies of a man’s own family members. That sword, is the Word of God (Isaiah 66:15-16; Luke 2:33-35; Ephesians 6:12; Hebrews 4:12; Revelation 1:16; Revelation 19:11-21). We should never hold back from sharing the Word of God with anyone, no matter how offended they may become. Because, when we share the the Word of God with a loving spirit of meekness (Galatians 6:1-2), we share the truth. If someone is offended by the truth, then their offense is no reason not to tell others who so desperately need to hear it so that they are not consumed by the everlasting all consuming fire (Revelation 20:11-15).
