No Fear

By Pamela Rose Williams

“For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.” (2 Timothy 1:7)

As a child of God, you do have the “power” to overcome fear.  God gives peace of mind when we keep our eyes upon Him and not on the things of this world.  The Apostle Paul gave great advice on what we should be thinking about.  We see this in Phil 4:6-9:

6 Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.

7 And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

8 Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.

9 Those things, which ye have both learned, and received, and heard, and seen in me, do: and the God of peace shall be with you.

There it is, that familiar pattern . . . a command and a promise.  Do this (think on these things) and God will bless (peace).

POWER, LOVE and A SOUND MIND, they come from God.  FEAR does not.

Things to Think About and Do

  1. Find 2 verses (passages) each for Power, Love and Sound Mind (sanity). Jot them down.
  2. What are three common definitions of love, from the Bible?
  3. Think of someone whom is suffering from fear or battling problems of the mind. Share this post with them.
