Reflections on a Birthday in Heaven

By Candi Allen

Do I remember all the things you’d want me to?

Do I remember enough of the laughs? Forget enough of the tears?

Have you found Grandpa yet and told him how much we miss him? Did you get to meet Grandma yet?

How about Arlee Rose? Have you told her all she’s missed here and how well her strong momma has been fighting through the days without her?

Tell Uncle Lenny how beautifully his girls have lived on through grief.

How about Ben and Melodie? Tell them what an amazing man found me. And how absolutely in love I am.  And how amazingly well he loves me…. even with all my broken pieces.

Do you see how strong Momma has been? Can you see what an even greater man Jimmy is becoming through this all?

Can you see all the amazing family and friends that have helped me through this season? Can’t help but think you might have personally had a hand in picking one blue-eyed lefty in particular.

Oh Rosie, what’s it like at the feet of Jesus?

Seizure free…

Calm mind…

Clear deep breaths in your new perfect lungs.

Do your big blue eyes sparkle even more now?

Is your laugh even more contagious?

Is your smile even bigger?

Rosie, did you know how much I love you?

I made your favorite pie and I’ll do my best to laugh like you’d want me to today.

Happy first birthday in Heaven, Hollie Rosie. I miss you more than words can say. #forever27

Editor’s note: This thoughtful post was written on the birthday of Hollie Rose by her sister. It was Hollie’s first birthday in Heaven.
