Bread for Lord's Supper

Lord's Supper bread that serves 60 people. Very much like a thin cracker or wafer.
And he took bread, and gave thanks, and brake it, and gave unto them, saying, This is my body which is given for you: this do in remembrance of me. (Jesus speaking at His last supper with the Apostles on earth, Luke 22:19)

Equipment

  • Cookie/baking sheet
  • Measuring cups
  • Measuring spoons
  • Medium Bowl
  • Knife
  • Pastry cutter

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup whole wheat flour
  • 5 tsp sugar
  • 5-6 TBS butter, cold
  • 2 TBS milk, cold (plant-based milk works fine)

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  • Lightly grease the baking sheet and set aside.
  • In a medium bowl mix together flour and sugar.
  • Cut butter into small cubes and then cut them into the flour mixture using a pastry cutter like you are making a pie crust.
  • Cut dough until it is like little course peas.
  • Slowly add the cold milk until the dough is the consistency of a pie crust.
  • Press the dough onto the prepared baking sheet until it is approximately 1/8 inch thick. (hint: I cover the dough with wax paper and then use a same size baking sheet to press down over the dough until desired thickness - a rolling pin will work too!).
  • Poke the dough liberally with a fork and then score it with a knife or pizza cutter into squares of about 1/2 inch.
  • Bake until golden brown ... watch closely it should be done in 10-12 minutes.
