When it comes to drugs, the “Just say no” drive taught to our nation’s kids and adults never worked when it came to “stopping” the drug epidemic. Why? Because you can outlaw every drug on the planet, but it will never stop illegal drugs from being made and used to infiltrate cultures by those seeking the creation of drug addicts who will want to buy more.
While there are legal drugs for genuine medicinal purposes, it is the same way with guns for self-defense and protecting the innocent from perpetrators of evil. While we can outlaw every gun, it will never stop gun crimes. Whether it be simple armed robberies; mass murders or even running over unarmed political opponents with tanks, when you disarm the public, demonic-hearted people create a dangerous environment that targets the innocent. Everything from simple armed robbery to massive elimination of people groups through the use of gas chambers shows us what the world is becoming as the knowledge of Christ and His love disappears from the majority of people.
How do we help prevent this? We need to get back to teaching Biblically based morals of actively showing God’s love to others first and stop promoting riots as “exercising your right to protest” against people you don’t agree with. While America’s 2nd Amendment was created for the people to defend themselves from private, public, and political violence, it was not created to justify attacking the innocent.
As for those of us who served in the military, we may remember being on a firing range and hearing whomever is running the range broadcast on loudspeakers: “Are we ready on the left? The left is ready. Are we ready on the right? The right is ready. Watch your lanes.” Let us work together to promote self-defense and the defence of others; while at the same time, promoting severe penalties for those that abuse firearms for “self-offense.”
“Lead me, O LORD, in thy righteousness because of mine enemies; make thy way straight before my face. [9] For there is no faithfulness in their mouth; their inward part is very wickedness; their throat is an open sepulchre; they flatter with their tongue. [10] Destroy thou them, O God; let them fall by their own counsels; cast them out in the multitude of their transgressions; for they have rebelled against thee. [11] But let all those that put their trust in thee rejoice: let them ever shout for joy, because thou defendest them: let them also that love thy name be joyful in thee. [12] For thou, LORD, wilt bless the righteous; with favour wilt thou compass him as with a shield.” (Psalm 5:8-12 KJV)
“Submit yourselves to every ordinance of man for the Lord’s sake: whether it be to the king, as supreme; [14] Or unto governors, as unto them that are sent by him for the punishment of evildoers, and for the praise of them that do well. [15] For so is the will of God, that with well doing ye may put to silence the ignorance of foolish men: [16] As free, and not using your liberty for a cloke of maliciousness, but as the servants of God. [17] Honour all men. Love the brotherhood. Fear God. Honour the king.” (1 Peter 2:13-17 KJV)
