Salinas Pueblo Missions National Monument

We took a trip over to Mountainair, New Mexico and stopped by to see the ruins of the Salinas Pueblo Missions  which was built in the 1600s. We were able to get some good shots as we toured the ruins on a very, very hot nearly 100 degree, sunny, desert day. I have posted them here to link up for a Wordless Wednesday. Click on the photos to view full size.

A far view of the entire mission ruins Huge beams that kept the over 40 foot high structure and roof from collapsing From the baptistry looking out To the left by that small window hung the bell in that bell tower What remains of the village people houses An amazing piece of American missionary history
